Pet Crossing Now Offers Stem Cell Therapy
Veterinarians at PCAH are now using stem cell technology to combat canine arthritis and injuries to tendons and ligaments. Drs. Steve Barghusen and Cheryl Roth are both certified in Stem Cell Therapy by Vet-Stem. This exciting new therapy uses your own pet’s adult stem cells (derived from their fat) to promote your dog or cat’s own healing processes. Currently it is approved for arthritis and certain autoimmune diseases.

This outpatient process consists of obtaining a fat sample from your pet under sterile conditions. The sample is shipped overnight to Vet-Stem’s laboratory in San Diego, CA and processed the next day to identify and separate out the adult stem cells. The cells are shipped back to Pet Crossing overnight and just forty-eight hours after the initial fat collection, the stem cells are injected into your dog or cat’s affected joint(s).

Brief Overview

Vet-Stem Regenerative Cell (VSRC) therapy has demonstrated successful therapeutic outcomes in patients with tendon and ligament injuries, fractures, and joint disease. Since 2005, selected clinics have treated dogs with arthritis and orthopedic soft tissue injuries. Studies continually demonstrate that joint injections of VSRCs significantly decrease pain and improve comfort in the majority of cases.
